It has several inspirational practitioners in residence and a large selection of reference books, CDs/DVDs, crystals, and gift items. You can find the shop and practice upstairs at the Griffith Shops, Canberra. April’s newsletter has a range of courses and each month features some of our herbs, books and DVDs, essential oils and crystals, plus some wonderful gift ideas that have just arrived in store. You are welcome to come in and browse.

Homeopathic First Aid Course - Fri 24, Sat 25 and Sun 26 August ($395.00) with Rovaye Hodges, Gerry Dendrinos and Tim Thomas. This intensive course covers an introduction to the life and concepts of homeopathy, and the basic principles of prescribing homeopathic medicines in the home and while travelling. The course includes a first aid kit (worth more than $340) and covers a variety of basic first aid situations, from simple bruises to life threatening accidents.  This course will give recognised prior learning for part of the Advanced Diploma in Homeopathy being offered by the The Hierophant and Om Shanti (see below)
Advanced Diploma in Homeopathy . The Hierophant and Om Shanti are currently taking students for a nationally recognised Advanced Diploma in Homeopathy. This is a 3 year full-time or five year part-time course. Please see attached flyer for more information. Please see attachment to this email for inquiry details. 
Exploring the Chakras - Rovaye Hodges will conduct another eight week course in the second half of this year.  A date has yet to be confirmed but please register your interest with us.   This experiential course is very popular and explores a deep sense at all levels (physical, emotional and spiritual) of the seven main chakras as you journey through them each week.  Weekly 3 hour evening classes. 
Homeopathic Organ Remedy Prescribing with Alastair Gray. Two day workshop,  weekend Sat 22 -23 September at Om Shanti. Fees yets to be advised. 
 
Herbal teas – mix your own blend to soothe you through the winter months. These descriptions are summarised with kind permission from Isabel Shipard, herbalist and author of How Can I use Herbs in My Daily Life. 
 
Portable infuser - ball and chain or springloaded, $4.30 each for pots and cups. 
Astragalus - $6.00 per 50gms – a very useful immune booster as we head into the winter months – this herb is both a preventative and healer. It has anti-viral properties and multiple applications for illness and is safe to use on a long-term basis.
Echinacea tops - $5.00 per 50 gms, root is $10.00 per 50 gms – another useful infection fighter for winter, this broad-spectrum herb is also useful for revving up the immune system, as well as being a blood purifier and lymphatic cleanser.
Licorice - $5.00 per 50 gms – another significant multi-purpose herb, known for its rejuvenating, harmonising and nutritive properties. It has multiple uses which could fill a page alone. A good one to add to a winter brew. 
Rose root (rhodiola rosea), $10.00 per 50 gms. This herb is an known as an adaptogens which are natural plant substances that increase the body's non-specific resistance and normalise the functions of the body.  A good booster in times of stress.
Rosehip – $4.50 per 50 gms. Rich in vitamin C which is not unusually destroyed in this plant by heating or drying. Its vitamin C content gives rose hip tea its primary benefit - the ability to help prevent and treat colds and flu. Rose hip tea also has vitamins A, B, C, E and K, it is nutrient rich and boosts health.

An Hour in the Garden, Meredith Kirton, $36.95. By respected Australian garden designer, writer and broadcaster Meredith Kirton, this practical and inspiring book presents simple gardening ideas that can be put into action in an hour. The first chapter is ‘Pocket-sized projects’, containing 40 ideas for simple yet beautiful things to do in your garden. ‘Mini makeovers’ then offers inspiring ways to transform every type of space, from a patio to a shady corner..
Anastasia - Vladimir Megre, $24.95 each – SPECIAL – buy the set of 9 and only pay for 8. The popular Ringing Cedars series is back in stock. Megré, a Siberian riverboat trader, describes his discovery of Anastasia in 1995 while he was plying the waters of the remote Ob River on a strange quest to find the mysterious "Ringing Cedars" – ancient trees that over the course of 500 years had reportedly accumulated so much energy through their pine-needle, antenna-like leaves, they had begun to audibly "ring" or vibrate. Hurry Up and Meditate - David Michie, $29.95. Guided meditations for lovers of the bestselling 'Hurry Up & Meditate'. Meditation has been scientifically proven to deliver highly effective stress relief, boost our immune systems and dramatically slow the ageing process. It has also been shown to make us much happier and more effective thinkers. 
Your Journey Home - Guided Meditation - Jennifer Sexton, $29.95 - As seen on Qantas flights, this 20 minute meditation is designed to bring on deep relaxation using both oratory and visualisation techniques, to help people relax as the end of the day. 
 
Essentials oils  - the Hierophant’s essential oil prices are kept very low and you will find our prices hard to beat anywhere in Australia.  Notes summarised from Aromatherapy – A Complete Guide to the Healing Art by Kathi Keville and Mindy Green, $30.00. 
Eucalyptus Blue Gum - $7.10 fore 15mls,  – there are more than 600 species offering a range of scents and uses. Eucalyptus globules, Blue Gum, is used a potent antiviral, antibacterial and decongestant agent. Great to breathe in for colds and flu (in oil burner or heavily diluted in hot water for steam), it is also effective for oily complexions, acne, and as an antiseptic on wounds and bites. The scent is used for energising. Do not apply directly to skin – it will burn. Use up to 3% in a good carrier oil or ointment base. It’s also a very powerful household cleaner – but avoid using on synthetic surfaces. Adding a few drops to your laundry deodorises and disinfects. 
Peppermint - $11.55 for 15 mls, a pleasantly scented oil, peppermint is popular for soothing and cleansing the digestive tract. It also clears sinus and lung congestion, is antibacterial and is used for muscle spasms and inflammation. Cosmetically it stimulates oil production, and relieves a wide range of itches. Emotionally it enhances focus and counters insomnia. Use similar to encalyptus oil above. 
Lemon - $9.50 for 15 mls, cold-pressed from fresh lemon peel, the odour is sharp and citrusy. It an antioxidant, preservative and antiseptic and helps counter viral and bacterial infections. It has a range of uses including treating high blood pressure, congested lymph and liver, and supports the immune system. Topically it is used for oily skins and impurities and treats bruises and skin infections. It’s scent is anti-depressive. Use as for eucalypt above – noting like all citrus, it can be photosensitising (to sun) and can irritate sensitive skin.

Quartz has a unique helical spiral crystalline form and is known to absorb, store, release and regulate energy. As such, it is highly regarded as a universal and master cleansing and energy stone.  Held in your hand, it doubles your biomagnetic field and it used to protect against radiation, and is popular for building focus and bringing the body into balance.
Clear quartz - tumbled stones from $4 each. This variety of quartz is a vessel for the full spectrum of visible light and is used to bring harmony and clarity on many levels.
Rutilated quartz - tumbled stones from $2. This variety is regarded as heightening the energetic impulse of quartz and helping to get to the root of an issue and letting go of the past.  
Smokey quartz - tumbled stones from $4. This variety is often used for grounding and protection.
Strawberry quartz  tumbled stones from $2. This is a favourite for stimulating the heart chakra.
Tourmalinated quartz - tumbled stones from $4. This one is used for grounding and problem-solving
 
Lay-by at the Hierophant - we do offer layby terms to customers for a period of 3 months, based on an agreement of regular payments. 15% reward cards - this year we are phasing out our reward cards and will be advising our customers via our newsletter of monthly specials instead.
