Buchu is a good source of vitamins A, B, C and E. As an anti-spasmodic herb, Buchu can also help to relieve nausea, indigestion and flatulence. It has a cleansing effect on the digestive tract,  helping to balance digestive flora and treat bacterial growth; and has been used to treat inflammation, kidney and urinary tract infections. It is also used as a diuretic and stomach tonic.
